Some people may say that “work hard, play hard”. But since the day I’m doing this assignment, I think we should play and work hard at the same time. In this industry, everything is keep changing, so listen more, play more, learn more. As we couldn’t learn all the things, we should upgrading ourselves anytime! So! When we play we learn, when we learn we play. Not meaning taking things not serious, but I need to be happy to continue my work, isn’t it?

Studying a brand so deeply, taking snap shots, forecasting a color, playing flats and stylesight.com. I’ve do so many things I haven’t tried before. All the things seems are separated but they are dependent. Just, I’m very happy that I’d do this assignment and the spirit in here will continue forever. I just learned something that I gained and will never lost!

The Color forecasting Report

This is the summary of the collection that I had analyze. I put it into a graph so we can easily what Color does Galliano use to use in the past and in the present.

Christian Dior in my mind...

During these several months study on Christian Dior history and past collection, it can be easily seen that what is the image of Dior and also when it comes to Galliano, what happened? The style of the New Look is so memorable that every several year, Galliano will bring it out in a rather different way. Christian Dior used to use black, blue, champagne, sometimes pink. Galliano is a bit different, he uses wide range of colors. One thing I appreciate Galliano very much is the innovation of his idea but never got too far away from Dior. Having the Galliano style "Dior" but still keeping it, having the elagane and gorgeous dresses in each season.And also, Galliano always let us dream. His collection full is always of idea and power.

The Coming 2010 Fall/Winter haute couture....

First, let me analyze the chart, in the collection that I had analyzed, BLACK, PINK and BLUE is a very common one in his collection. And when you look into it, you can see in every several years, Galliano will produced a lot of Achromatic and Monocromatic color scheme dresses. However, when it passed, he will start to use a large range of color. In the past few seasons, you can find it out.

In the 2009 Spring couture, Galliano said that his design won't be affected by the recession, because he need to let people keep dreaming!!! So his coming season would not uses only back and white these sad color tone. And I can predict that after using some monochromatic and achromatic color scheme for such a long time, he will wants something different from this. It doesn't mean that he won't uses these scheme anymore, but further more, he will add some other color to the same outfit. Maybe complimentary color scheme or split-complimentary color scheme may used.

Although sometime his collection is exaggarated using bright color, the color used in the collection will still give us a harmony as a whole, but not too strong and tough because usually Galliano has keep the collection feminine. In these few season, although some bright color has used, but the intensity is not so high and so sharp. It is hard to guess what he is going to do, but still we have a track that I can try to think what he is thinking. I think to suit this with the color premiere 2010, tender style color silient feeling will be used. And the color tone will be soft and the value will be lower.

By having these information, I suggest the following color will be used in the 2010 fall/winter.

Trade Design show for Fall/Winter 2010

Here are some information about the trades show of Fall/Winter 2010 from cemmobbio, Italy. These information are come from stylesight.com. I think it is useful for my color forecastiong project because trade show showing what textile is also important for the garment finally produced. Many of these themes featured a worn-out effect, while fabrics from the past like damasks and broades were resurrected in richly innovative interpretation and colors.

In this season, everyone cares about the econmic downturn. However, John Galliano seems not caring it too much. As we may see it from the design. The color using and designs can show that he is still doing his work. "Keep client dreaming".

It is very easy to see that in this collection Galliano mainly uses Monochromatic Color Scheme as it only uses plain color for its own collection. In this collection, you may find some shadow of the design. Which one? Of corse , that's the New Look. In also empasize the waist and hip line of female and showing the feminine line to us. BUT! On a very different style.

As a whole, in this collection mainly uses white, sky blue, burgandy, red , Greenish Yellow and Grey. It uses triad color scheme. However, each of the color using different value and intensity, so some of the dresses may not seem very sharp. However, some of them will become very sharp instead.

The color uses also let me imagine of grasses, ground, roses, and skies. So this uses principle of Familiarity.

In this collection in uses mainly in black and white, with tints of gray, caramel, Parma violet, mint, and chartreuse to follow.Feminine clothes are contrasted by dangerous caged platforms with metallic triangle heels. Sure there were sheer skirts and exaggerated corsetted waists and the usually bouffant ballgowns, seen above, but for the most part the collection was sophisticated and wearable.

The collection's inspriation was the French first lady Carla Bruni-Sarkozy.
This collection also uses many familiar color that Galliano always use. A lot of achoromatic scheme color and also monochromatic color scheme. Most of the color using is in low intensity give a very soft feeling. But the archoromatic scheme black and white give add fomality and sophistication to the whole collection. Many of them are see through, so even tough the dress is very simple and monochromatic/achromatic, the color of the skin add some changes to the whole feeling.

As a whole, brown , caramel, all came from orange. Together they will have Complimentary Color Scheme .

John Galliano in the collection put symbolism art on to his dresses. Also Diana Veerland, the chief director of vogue in 1960 inspire Galliano a lot! I love the apple green dreeses in this season, it gave me a very sweet feeling!

Principle of Familiarity is used the color used can be usually seen in our daily lifes. And also the color intensity and value is not so high that it will not be very sharp when we see this collection.
