Christian Dior and World war 2

Dior has passed through the World War II, and in my opinion the "New Look" had been affected by the WWII a lot. In the Second World War people are rationing of fabric, and in the new look Dior's lavish use of material was a bold and shocking stroke.1943 clothing

Due to the restriction to fashion industry brough by the WWII, some very simple shirtwaist dress become popular.

In 1947 Christian Dior presented a fashion look with a fitted jacket with a nipped in waist and full calf length skirt. It was a dramatic change from wartime austerity styles. His style used yards and yards of fabric. Approximately 10 yards was used for early styles. Later Dior used up to 80 yards for newer refinements that eliminated bulk at the waist.

The big contrast brings a big impact to the fashion industry, and it becomes popular in the following ten years.

My little summary:

The reason why I find something about the new look, there are several resons. Firstly, the new look brings a big imact to the industry and becomes the clothes that representing Dior, but why? Second, did anything affecting Dior designing the "New Look"?

And of corse I find the answer I want, and this also prove that the history has changed the fashion industry and the outcome of the designs.

It also means that the brand Dior had establish its own image since 1947, the elagance of dresses and colour were being setted since the "New Look". So I'm goin' to forecast from the "New Look".
